Who am I and what do I do
I am an educator
who may have the best job around! I am
lucky to be able to bring science teachers
together to share success strategies
for the classroom; throughout rural northern
California. Through this job I am also
able to interact with world class scientists
throughout the world, and share the enthusiasm
for science with classrooms everywhere.
As a teacher, I value the collaboration
and synergy that occurs when students
and
classrooms are plugged into real science
and exploration.
Family, hobbies, interests, etc.
There
is a world of opportunity and I have
tried to experience as much of it as I
can; climbing
and hiking mountains in the United States
and Europe; diving, parachuting and spending
a great deal of time in the woods of
northern California, Wyoming and Montana.
My family consists of, my wife and two
children Jack and Caitlin (13, and 11)
live on a small farm on a creek which we
share with horses, chickens, dogs cats
and wild turkeys.
Parting words for students and teachers
The
universe is an amazing classroom, and
experience teaches us lessons never learned
in books. Combining experiential education,
like the Licancabur expedition, with
the
wonderful work teachers do in the classrooms
can motivate and inspire a whole generation
of science learners.
